<p>PURPOSE:To contrive the decrease in the level of the connection of an optical fiber device by directly forming a light emitting element and a photoreceptor at both ends of an optical fiber element and integrating them therewith. CONSTITUTION:A hole having a size slightly larger than the diameter of a fiber element 3 is perforated at an auxiliary substrate 1 of the same material as an optical element substrate by a photoetching technique, and one end of the fiber element 3 cut in predetermined length is set in the hole. Thereafter, an agglomerate is added thereto, and the connection of the substrate 1 to the fiber element 3 is completed. Then, an epitaxial growth is repeated several times on the substrate 1 by utilizing a vapor phase growth technique, and an optical element 6 is formed. Thereafter, it is scribed on the basis of the position of the fiber element permenently connected with the substrate 1, and the optical element 6 is completely integrated with the fiber element 3.</p> |
