摘要 PURPOSE: To produce a steel material excellent in hydrogen embrittlement res i stance. CONSTITUTION: This steel material contains fine pores of <=0.1mm diameter by >=1×10<-6> cm<3> , in the total volume, per gram of the steel material and has superior hydrogen embrittlement resistance. At this time, the fine pores can be methane bubbles. The steel material excellent in hydrogen embrittlement resistance can be produced by subjecting a steel, having >0.03wt.% C content, to heating at >=200 deg.C for >=1hr in a gaseous atmosphere of >=1atm partial pressure of hydrogen and forming methane bubbles as the fine pores. Prior to this treatment, the steel can be heated to a temp. in the austenite region and hardened.
