PURPOSE: A DNA storing composition and a method for storing DNA is provided, thereby storing DNA at room temperature and reducing costs for storing DNA. CONSTITUTION: A DNA storing composition contains DNA bound to diatomite or apatite hydroxide, wherein DNA is labeled with dye or fluorescent materials. A method for preparing the DNA storing composition comprises (a) adding guanidine-HCl into purified DNA, and adding diatomite or apatite hydroxide into the DNA complex; and (b) washing the DNA mixture with alcohol and drying it. The DNA storing composition is used for laying a person's ashes in a tomb. The method for storing DNA comprises storing the DNA storing composition in a vessel.
