The cooling system for a semiconductor element such as a thyristor operated at a given potential, consists of an element in physical contact wit the semi-conductor device. A liquid is continuously conveyed through the cooling device. The cooling device consists of a cooling plage (2) and a partitioning plate (1). The cooling plate (2) is made with a channel (3) for the cooling liquid. The partitioning plate is made with a space (10, 11) with a larger cross-section than the channel at the input and output of the cooling liquid. The space contains an electrode with good conductivity (12) which is chemically resistant to the cooling medium.
