PURPOSE: A dual FPD and a thin client are provided to perform as a static display when connected to a computer, and to function as a thin client computer when disconnected from a computer. CONSTITUTION: The TCFPD is encased in a durable enclosure, preferably composed of a durable lightweight material such as plastic or thin metal. There is a display screen viewable from the front of the TCFPD. The display screen has display resolutions and brightness consistent with state-of-the art display screens. There is a small antenna for wireless communication with a personal computer. The antenna is internal to the device or another wireless protocol such as IRdA is utilized which does not require an antenna. The device has a connector preferably located in an unobtrusive position on the case for connecting to the video output of a computer. The device has plug for receiving electrical input to recharge the device's battery and/or provide power to the device.
