PURPOSE:To ensure that the heat supplied at the time of thermal printing is sufficiently utilized by a receiving layer, printing is conducted uniformly and image density is enhanced, by providing a porous layer between a paper base constituted of cellulose fibers and the receiving layer. CONSTITUTION:The thermal transfer recording sheet 1 comprises the porous layer 3 provided on the paper base 2 consisting essentially of cellulose fibers, and the receiving layer 4 provided on the porous layer 3. The porous layer 3 may be, for example, a microporous layer obtained by a method wherein a solution of a thermoplastic resin or a synthetic rubber in an organic solvent is mixed with a non-solvent which is hardly evaporated, is compatible with the organic solvent and does not dissolve the resin or the rubber, the mixed liquid is applied to the paper base 2, and is dried to provide a microscopically aggregated film. |
