PURPOSE: A slot allocation method in a wireless section of a wireless ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) system is provided to determine a weight value of each connection in consideration of the characteristic of a traffic class of the connection and then allocate a slot when a traffic congestion is generated to a WATM(Wireless Asynchronous Transfer Mode) system, thereby minimizing the traffic delay and a waste of the slot. CONSTITUTION: An AP(Access Point) receives a slot allocation request from each connection(S20). After calculating the sum of slots requested from each connection, the AP compares the sum with the number of usable slots(S21). As a result of comparison, if the number of slots requested is smaller than the number of usable slots, the AP allocates the requested slots to the respective connections(S26). If the number of slots requested is larger than the number of usable slots, the AP allocates first slots as much as requested a PCR(Peak Cell Rate) to a CBR(Constant Bit Rate) connection(S22). Thereafter, the AP allocates a slot to an ABR(Available Bit Rate) connection(S23) and thereafter, finally to a VBR(Variable Bit Rate) connection(S23,S24).
