PURPOSE:To arrange so that air bubbles or solids may be removed efficiently and securely by providing an injection abnormality detection means for each nozzle and plural different injection abnormality recovery means in the on demand-type ink jet recording device. CONSTITUTION:First, right after the power supply is ON, the ink jet recording device is mini-purged by a comparatively small ink flow of approx. 0.1cc, and an ink injection is detected by an injection error detection device 14 after mini- purge. If a normal injection is detected, a recording head 1 is in ''printing standby state.'' If the injection is not normalized even after the above-described mini- purge, a short purge with an ink flow of 0.2-0.3cc will be performed. Then if a normal injection is obtained, the device is in ''printing standby state.'' However, if it is not yet recovered to a normal injection state, a clog purge operation will be performed. Thus it is possible to minimize ink consumption, increase the recovery efficiency and shorten the standby time by using concurrently a purge means with three different ink flows. |
