[Class 39 (i)] In a high pressure metalvapour discharge lamp, a thermally conducting wire or rod has one part located where it receives heat from the constricted discharge column and another part is in close thermal connection with the interior surface of a sealing pip or like depression in the envelope. In the form shown, the wire 3 is connected to the electrode support 4, passes in front of the electrode 2 and enters the pip 1. In a modification, the wire is not connected to the electrode so that it derives all its heat from the discharge. Specifications 418,980 and 433,671 are referred to. |
