The present invention relates to a method for controlling an electric product, which can overcome concentration of electric power demands, and thus an electric power provider can efficiently manage electric power demands and consumers can reduce electricity costs and energy consumption. The present invention provides a method for controlling an electric product, comprising the steps of: recognizing an on-peak time section in which at least one piece of power information including an electricity cost exceeds a predetermined value, and an off-peak time section in which the power information is equal to or less than the predetermined value; determining whether a drive mode provided in an electric product has been selected; determining whether a drive permission time section for the electric product is present in the on-peak time section; determining whether the selected drive mode is a permission mode, in which the amount of power consumption or the electricity cost is equal to or less than a predetermined reference value, when the electric product is driven according to the selected drive mode in the drive permission time section; and performing control so that at least part of a drive time of the electric product is included in the drive permission time section when the selected drive mode is the permission mode, wherein the drive permission time section is a time section which is equal to or less than a predetermined proportion of a time section set in the drive mode in the on-peak time section.
