Disclosed are a method and an apparatus to measure and stabilize polarization using a dynamic polarization controller. According to an aspect of the present embodiment, the apparatus may measure a polarization state of an input optical signal without using external reference polarization or a special polarimeter at a rear end of a dynamic polarization controller and may control the dynamic polarization controller to a desired polarization state. The apparatus comprises: a polarization controller including at least three wavelength plates formed along a section having an optical fiber, wherein the at least three wavelength plates include a first wavelength plate arranged in a direction along an optical shaft of a predetermined section of the optical fiber, a second wavelength plate arranged in a direction of a predetermined first angle for the optical shaft, and a third wavelength plate arranged in a direction of the second angle for the optical shaft; an analyzer located at an output end of the polarizer controller and to polarize an output light of the polarizer controller to a specific polarization state; an optical detector located at an output end of the polarizer and to generate an output signal by detecting an output light of the analyzer; and a calculation means to control the polarization controller to convert at least three input optical signals into differential state of polarization (SOP) and to calculate a stoke parameter based on an output signal of the optical detector corresponding to the at least three optical signals. |
