A backlight device 13 is provided with: an LED 22; a light guide plate 24 which is configured of a plate-like member and has a light incident surface 24a that is composed of an end face of the plate-like member and faces the LED 22, on said light incident surface 24a the light emitted from the LED 22 being incident, an opposite end face 24d that is composed of an end face of the plate-like member positioned on the opposite side of the light incident surface 24a, and a light exit surface 24b that is composed of one plate surface of the plate-like member, from said light exit surface 24b the light entered from the light incident surface 24a being discharged; and a light reflecting part 34 which is formed so as to closely adhere to at least the opposite end face 24d and reflects the light traveling from the inside of the light guide plate 24 to the opposite end face 24d. |
