PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a development device capable of preventing a developer from being discharged from a developer discharge port even when the total amount of the developer in the device does not increase to an amount which requires discharge of the developer.SOLUTION: A recovery screw 6 and a stirring screw 11 conveying a developer in a reverse direction with each other and provided with a spiral blade part in a rotary shaft are provided in a recovery conveyance path 7 and a stirring conveyance path 10, of which gap in between is partitioned in a lateral direction by a third partition wall 135. The third partition wall 135 is provided with an opening part which communicates between the downstream side end vicinity of the recovery screw 6 and the upstream side end vicinity of the stirring screw 11. A developer discharge port 146 is provided at a predetermined height position of a side wall facing the opening part with the stirring screw 11 interposed therebetween of side walls forming the stirring conveyance path 10. The rotational direction of the recovery screw 6 is a direction in which the spiral blade part rises between the rotary shaft of the recovery screw 6 and the opening part. The rotational phase of the recovery screw 6 and the stirring screw 11 is fixed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
