A range hood (100) and a volute (1) thereof. The range hood (100) comprises: a housing (20) provided with a first external air exit (201) and a second external air exit (202), the volute (1) and a wind wheel (30) both disposed in the housing (20), and an external switching cover plate (40). The volute body (10) of the volute (1) comprises a bottom plate (101), a top plate, and a side enclosing plate (102) disposed between the bottom plate (101) and the top plate. The volute body (10) is provided with an external air outlet (105) in communication with the first external air exit (201) and the second external air exit (202). The opening direction of the external air outlet (105) is orthogonal to the opening direction of the second external air exit (202). The wind wheel (30) is disposed in the volute body (10). The external switching cover plate (40) is movably disposed on the volute (1) or the housing (20) between a first position where the first external air exit (201) is opened and the second external air exit (202) is closed and a second position where the first external air exit (201) is closed and the second external air exit (202) is opened, wherein the angle α between the external switching cover plate (40) at the second position and the opening direction of the second external air exit (202) is greater than 0° and smaller than 90°.
