Data is received identifying first user 102A who controls access sharing to data items, typically documents, stored on third party data store 106. Access rights to the data store are established using access rights of the first user and said rights are stored in first user data structure (1104, fig. 11), e.g. an access token. In a preferred embodiment data is received from the first user identifying second user 102B and, in response to selection of a data item by the first user, information is received representing a location of the item in the data store. In this embodiment, a key unique to the second user and representing said storage location is generated and stored, in concordance with the information, in a workflow data structure of the first user (1102, fig. 11); the unique key being provided to the second user to access the item. Access to the items may be restricted, e.g. if access is not from the gateway or the second user, based on comparing logs of access to the items via the gateway and of access to the items on the data store. |
