1. A method of quantifying UV disinfecting doses adequate for sterilizing an ophthalmic lens using one or more additive indicators, the method comprising the steps of:
adding one or more water soluble and non-toxic indicators to an aqueous solution containing an ophthalmic lens; applying a dose of ultraviolet radiation for a controlled time and intensity to the aqueous solution containing the ophthalmic lens; and gathering feedback from the degradation of at least one of chromophores and fluorophores of the one or more of the water soluble and non-toxic indicators to determine the actual dose of ultraviolet radiation imparted to the aqueous solution and ophthalmic lens combination, the feedback being at least one of quantitative or qualitative nature. |
