The present invention is an absorbent article that comprises an absorption body and a cover sheet that is arranged further to a skin side than the absorption body. Joining grooves are formed so as to compress and join the cover sheet and the absorption body in the thickness direction. The joining grooves include a transverse groove that crosses the width-direction center of the absorbent article in the width direction and that separates a central region that faces an excretion orifice from a rear region that is positioned further to the rear than the central region. An embossed pattern that is shallower than the joining grooves is formed on the surface of the central region and the surface of the rear region. The embossed pattern on the central region and the embossed pattern on the rear region are different.
