PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve down-sizing and cost-saving of a printer which uses a thermal head or the like.SOLUTION: A printer includes: a thermal head 10; a platen roller 20; a spring which pushes the thermal head 10 to the platen roller 20 side; a recording paper guide which guides recording paper; a platen support groove 42 which supports a shaft 20a of the platen roller; a support groove projection 43 which is provided in the platen support groove 42 at an edge on a side facing the thermal head 10; and a mechanical switch 80 which detects that the platen roller 20 is disposed in the platen support groove 42. The printer, which performs printing on recording paper sandwiched between the thermal head 10 and the platen roller 20, is characterized in that when the platen roller 20 is disposed at a predetermined position in the platen support groove 42, the thermal head 10 energizes the platen roller 20 by the spring, and the mechanical switch 80 is pushed by the shaft of the thermal head 10. |
