PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor capable of specifying a footstep which has caused an abnormality when a safety detector related to footsteps is operated. SOLUTION: The passenger conveyor having a large number of footsteps endlessly connected to circulate comprises a detected part provided at each footstep; a footstep detector 54 detecting the detected part and specifying the footstep to generate a footstep specifying signal; a first CSS (comb safety switch) detector 101 provided in a first position predetermined from the footstep detector 54 to detect an abnormality related to the footstep and to generate a first abnormality detection signal based on the abnormality; and a footstep specifying apparatus 80 specifying the footstep which has caused the abnormality based on the footstep specifying signal when the first abnormality detection signal is generated.
