PRODUCTION OF GLYCEROL ACETATES

1277864 Glycerol acetates KNAPSACK AG 26 Nov 1970 [1 Dec 1969] 56228/70 Heading C2C Glycerol di- and triacetates are prepared by reacting allyl acetate, acetic acid and molecular oxygen at elevated temperature (80-250‹ C.) in the liquid phase under a pressure from 1 to 200 atmospheres in the absence of catalysts. The reaction may be intermittent in an autoclave or continuous with recycling followed by distillation to separate the di- and tri-esters.
