PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle alternator which can be miniaturized while reducing the cost and simplifying the manufacturing process and in which intrusion of a foreign substance into the periphery of a slip ring can be prevented surely. SOLUTION: The vehicle alternator a rotor having a rotating shaft 33 provided with slip rings 37 and 38, a stator arranged on the outer circumferential side of the rotor, a frame 4 for holding the rotor and the stator, a brush holder 53 containing brushes 51 and 52 sliding on the slip rings 37 and 38, and a rear cover 6 formed integrally with a circumferential wall portion 61 surrounding the slip rings 37 and 38.
