The supply appts. for a combing machine in the textile industry unwinds the roll (10) of sliver (14) from a sleeve (11). Two parallel rollers (12,13) support the roll, with the roller (13) a little higher, in such a way that the vertical centre plane of the full roll (10) lies on the side towards the roller (13) but close to the axis of the lower roller (12). The latter thus absorbs most of the weight of the roll; it has a peripheral ribbing and a toothed belt drive and motor (15). ADVANTAGE - This reduces the risk of false warp by the high roller (13) and by the greater load on the roller (12).
