PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve coil insertion properties while securing insulation performance of stepped insulators in a rotary electric machine stator.SOLUTION: A rotary electric machine stator comprises: an annular yoke section 12; a stator core 11 having a plurality of tooth 13 and 14 being side-by-side in a circumferential direction and protruding from the yoke section 12 toward inner diameter sides and a plurality of slots 15 and 16 serving as spaces among the plurality of tooth 13 and 14; insulators 30 disposed along outer peripheral wall surfaces of the tooth 13 and 14; and coils 20 wound in a concentrated manner inserted from the inner diameter sides of the tooth 13 and 14 disposed with the insulators 30. Each of the insulators 30 includes: a plurality of coil contact surfaces 34and 34brought into contact with coil inner periphery side surfaces in a state that the coil 20 is disposed at an insulator outer periphery; and a plurality of tapered surfaces 36and 36connecting among the coil contact surfaces 34, and 34.
