<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coolant treating apparatus suppressed in a loss of a coolant. <P>SOLUTION: The coolant treating apparatus 100 sorts chips out of the coolant by a sorting conveyor 10a and drops them from an outlet 4. There is provided a deposit plate 31 below the conveying end point a1 of the sorting conveyor 10a for receiving the falling chips including coolant contained therein and depositing them. The deposit plate 31 is swingingly supported by a pivot shaft 32. When the weight of the chips deposited on the deposit plate exceeds a predetermined value, the centroid of the deposit plate 31 is shifted from the original location while turning around the pivot shaft 32, and bringing the chips thereon to be fallen down.
