The device has a high sensitivity bubble level (7) that is mounted on a cam (5), which pivots about a horizontal axis (6), and a return spring. The carrier comprises a vernier that slides opposite to a ruler in accordance to translation of the carriage on the slide. The cam is provided with a sinusoidal shape for allowing to read the differences in altitude between two sides of a rule.
