<p>An apparatus for providing augmented reality comprises: a camera unit which generates an image; an image recognizing unit which recognizes an object included in the image; an object extracting unit which extracts characteristic points of the object; an advertisement information acquiring unit which acquires advertisement information corresponding to the characteristic points; a composing unit which compares the characteristic points of the object with object characteristic information stored in a database to call for content information corresponding to the object and composes the content information and the advertisement information with the image to generate a composition image; and a display unit which displays the composition image. According to the present invention, advertisement information corresponding to an object extracted by a markerless augmented reality technology can be provided, and three dimensional positions of the object can be obtained by taking the images of the object using a stereo camera. In addition, the object can be easily tracked with respect to rotation and translation of the object in up and down directions. Furthermore, three dimensional coordinates of the object are calculated in real time, such that real world information can be accurately matched with content information and advertisement information by using the extracted three dimensional coordinates.</p> |
