Provided is a neutron scintillator which is constituted of a resin composition containing particles of an inorganic fluorescent substance, the neutron scintillator being excellent in terms of the ability to discriminate neutrons from γ rays, even when the resin composition has poor light transmission properties because of a factor, e.g., a discrepancy in refractive index, and when fluorescence attributable to neutrons cannot be sufficiently taken out. The neutron scintillator is constituted of a resin composition which comprises a resin and particles of an inorganic fluorescent substance that contains at least one neutron-capturing isotope selected from between lithium-6 and boron-10, such as Eu:LiCaAlF6, wherein the resin composition further contains a neutron-insensitive fluorescent substance that differs in fluorescence property. By utilizing a difference in fluorescence property, e.g., fluorescence life or fluorescence wavelength, between the case where neutrons strike on the resin composition and the case where γ rays strike thereon, neutrons can be discriminated from γ rays. |
