An engine node (101) receives serialized data (111) and deserializes a predetermined part (112) being referenced to select data on which a query is to be processed from the received data (111). The engine node (101) determines whether to discard the data (111) on the basis of the restored predetermined part (112) and conditions for selecting data on which the query is to be processed. If the engine node (101) determines that the data (111) is not to be discarded, the engine node (101) deserializes the received data (111). This enables the engine node (101) to avoid unnecessary deserialization.
