<p>The invention relates to a composite panel member (1) for an airframe (100) of an aircraft or spacecraft, the composite panel member (1) having a laminated or sandwich structure (3) comprising: a first outer layer (4) extending over a first side (5) of the panel member (1); a second outer layer (6) extending over a second side (7) of the panel member (1); a core layer (8) between the first and second outer layers (4, 6); and at least one support element (8) configured as an electrical conductor and provided within the core layer (8) between the first and second outer layers (4, 6). In this regard, the at least one support element (9) extends within the core layer (8) substantially parallel to the first and second outer layers (4, 6). The invention also provides an airframe (100) having an elongate structural member (2) which is attached to such a panel member (1) at the second side (7) thereof. The elongate structural member (2) is substantially aligned with and/or connected with the at least one support element (9) in the panel (1), such that the support element forms an electrical conductor between the first side (5) of the panel member (1) and the elongate structural element (2) at the second side of the panel member (1).</p> |
