The present invention relates to an innate immunity-enhancing and antiviral composition containing an extract of Cimicifuga heracleifolia Komarov, and to a method for enhancing animal innate immunity and antiviral activity, the method comprising administering an extract of Cimicifuga heracleifolia Komarov to a non-human animal in need of innate immunity enhancement. The innate immunity-enhancing and antiviral composition according to the present invention exhibits antiviral activity and innate immunity-enhancing efficacy, and thus can be applied for preventing and treating bacterial and viral infectious diseases, and can be widely used as a medicine or functional health food for enhancing and regulating immunity of immunodeficient or immunosuppressed patients, and as an innate immunity-enhancing and antiviral feed having a purpose of enhancing disease-resistance of animals. Furthermore, the innate immunity-enhancing and antiviral composition according to the present invention hardly induces toxicity or side effects, thus can be safely used despite long-term use for preventive purposes. |
