System and method for generating output data by a primary apparatus for reception with a compatible secondary apparatus

The present invention relates to a primary apparatus for generating an output for use with a secondary apparatus, both apparatuses having a first configuration and second configuration respectively, each configuration indicating support of a set of features. A configuration validator determines if the first and second configurations are compatible with each other. A conflict module determines conflict between the first configuration and the second configuration. Features not supported by both configurations might be skipped or filtered out. A corresponding system, software and method are also disclosed.
