PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a hollow valve that enables a necessary quality inspection after manufacture.SOLUTION: In a method of manufacturing a built-up hollow valve 1 of an internal combustion engine, which has a stem part 2, an umbrella part 3 and a bottom part 4, a) the umbrella part 3 is attached onto the stem part 2 of the hollow valve 1 by press fitting, and b) the umbrella part 3 is welded to the stem part 2 by a laser beam/electron beam 7 so that welding can be applied without causing melting of an outer surface 6 on an area of a subsequent examination surface 9 of the umbrella part 3. |
