Embodiments of the present invention provide a channel access method and an access point. The method comprises: a first AP in a first system sending, to a first STA in the first system, a listening time identification used for identifying a listening time reserved on a channel, so as to instruct the first STA not to send information and not to perform random access in the listening time; searching, on the channel in the listening time, for a sequence number used for the random access in a second system to obtain a search result, and determining, according to the search result, whether the channel is obtained in a contention; and if the channel is obtained in the contention, continuously sending first downlink information on a downlink subframe of a next TXOP of the listening time, and receiving uplink information or second downlink information sent by the first STA on an uplink subframe of the next TXOP. The technical solution of the present invention provides a new channel access mechanism, and can achieve coexistence of a next-generation WiFi system and a conventional WiFi system. |
