<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a focusing operation in which the difference between individuals and difference between photographing environments, of a predetermined shift amount for correcting a focusing position, required for the spacial frequency of an object are absorbed.SOLUTION: An automatic focusing apparatus includes imaging means for photoelectrically converting an object image formed by a photographic optical system including a focus lens and generating and outputting an imaging signal, and control means for performing a scan operation for obtaining an evaluation signal indicating the focusing state of the focus lens, while moving the focus lens, on the basis of the imaging signal and controlling the position of the focus lens, on the basis of the obtained evaluation signal. The automatic focusing apparatus includes a first mode for reading the imaging signal, while adding the imaging signal, and a second mode for reading the imaging signal, without adding the imaging signal, as a mode for reading the imaging signal from the imaging means. The control means limits the reading of the imaging signal through the use of the second mode, in the case of a second illuminance lower than a first illuminance.</p> |
