METHOD AND DEVICE FOR THE GESTURE CONTROL OF A MULTIMEDIA DISPLAY

Claimed is a device for the gesture control of a multimedia display with a non-solid state projection screen, said device comprising: infrared emitters, operating in a pulsed mode, which are provided with optical focusing elements and are oriented such that the radiation emitted is directed along the non-solid state projection screen; infrared sensors, provided with optical focusing elements and being capable of sensing infrared radiation reflected off a control device, which infrared sensors are oriented in the same direction as the infrared emitters and are located in the immediate vicinity thereof, defining, in conjunction with the infrared emitters, at least one touch-sensitive region; and a computing device which is capable of picking up signals from the infrared sensors, determining a first coordinate of the control device on the basis of the known location of each infrared sensor, and determining a second coordinate of the control device on the basis of the phase difference between an emitted infrared signal and a sensed infrared signal.
