The present invention provides a size-sensing device for a rolling mill and a control method of the size-sensing device for a rolling mill, the size sensing device comprising: a transfer roller for transferring a workpiece; a measuring roller for pressing and transferring the work piece; a rotational drive unit for providing power to rotate the measuring roller; a pressurizing drive unit for making the measuring unit adhere to the workpiece; a sensing unit for transmitting a sensing signal by sensing the position of the measuring roller or the position of the workpiece; and a control unit for determining whether the transfer roller or the measuring roller is to be driven or not and the size of the workpiece according to the sensing signal transmitted from the sensing unit.
