PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape feeder and tape setting method capable of stably setting following tapes in a non-splicing system.SOLUTION: A second tape feeder mechanism 20B has a sprocket 21B for feeding a carrier tape 14 fed being guided from a tape guide port 5d to the downstream through the sprocket 21B. The sprocket 21B is arranged to rotate with no load in a first rotation direction only identical to the tape feeding direction. The second tape feeder mechanism 20B also includes a biasing mechanism 25 that gives a force to the carrier tape 14 against the sprocket 21B so that the sprocket 21B catches the carrier tape 14. In a state that the sprocket 21B holds a proceeding tape 14(1) in two carrier tapes 14 which are fed one after another, the front edge of the following tape 14(2) is inserted between the sprocket 21B and the proceeding tape 14(1) so that the sprocket 21B catches the following tape 14(2) by giving a force to the proceeding tape 14(1) with the biasing mechanism 25. |
