The motor vehicle has an automatic speed controller and a manual throttle control element (2), which is actuated in two different modes of operation with the same hand. The vehicle is adapted, such that the vehicle is accelerated in a primary operation mode by actuation of the manual throttle control element, such as by actuation of an accelerator pedal. The setting speed of the speed controller is increased by operating the manual throttle control element in a secondary operation mode. The vehicle is adapted such that, after termination of the operation of the manual throttle control element in the primary operation mode, the current speed is maintained by the automatic speed controller.
