PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide treatment of demyelinating disorders using a soluble lymphotoxin &bgr; receptor.SOLUTION: The invention relates to the treatment of demyelinating disorders using an inhibitor of the lymphotoxin pathway. The invention is based, in part, on the discovery that a soluble form of LT&bgr;R (e.g., LT&bgr;R-Fc) can effectively promote remyelination in a subject. Accordingly, the invention provides methods, compositions (e.g., a soluble LT&bgr;R fusion protein, e.g., LT&bgr;R-Fc), devices, and kits useful for treating a demyelinating disorder (e.g., Multiple Sclerosis) in a subject, as well as for monitoring remyelination in the subject. |
