PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an x-ray analysis method capable of quickly and accurately finding out a content of ignition loss in lime and to provide an apparatus for the x-ray analysis method. SOLUTION: In the x-ray analysis method, a standard sample S composed of lime in which the content of ignition loss is known is irradiated with a primary x-ray 2, the strength of Compton scattering ray 6 generated from the standard sample S is detected, a calibration curve of the ignition loss indicating correlation between the detected strength of the Compton scattering ray 6 and the content of the ignition loss is created, the primary x-ray 2 is applied to an unknown sample S composed of lime, the strength of a Compton scattering ray 6 generated from the unknown sample S is detected, and the content of the ignition loss in the unknown sample S is found out by using the calibration curve of the ignition loss.
