A chassis 10 for a trailer or caravan having a flat platform 20 onto which a flat tray or floor can be mounted. The platform 20 presents a support structure aligned in a single 5 upper plane 22, so that all upper surfaces required to support the platform 20 lie in that plane 22. The upper surfaces of the front and rear lateral beams 40,42, the side beams 34,36 and the central beam 38 all lie in the upper plane 22 and each of these beams 34,36,38 run continuously substantially the length of the chassis 10.
