PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact zoom lens having a high zoom ratio, which achieves high optical performance in an entire zoom range from a wide-angle end to a telephoto end. SOLUTION: The zoom lens includes a first lens group having positive refracting power, a second lens group having negative refracting power, a third lens group having positive refracting power, and a fourth lens group having positive refracting power, arranged in this order from an object side to an image side, in which at least the second lens group moves so as to make a spacing between the first lens group and the second lens group wider at a telephoto end compared with at a wide-angle end.
