PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for forming a hydrophilic layer by immobilizing a hydrophilic compound on the surface of a substrate by a covalent bond to form a hydrophilic layer in order to suppress adsorption of a substance onto the substrate surface.SOLUTION: The method for producing a surface hydrophilic substrate includes arranging a hydrophilic organic compound 901 having a hydrophilic main chain and a radiation reactive functional group on the surface of a substrate 800 and irradiating the hydrophilic organic compound with radiation such as electron beams, to bond the hydrophilic main chain to the substrate surface by a covalent bond and to form the hydrophilic layer 902, thereby obtaining the surface hydrophilic substrate 810. |
