The method involves moving a radiation source of a radiation therapy device around a target volume, where a collimator is provided with an adjustable aperture for beam shaping of the radiation, and the irregular periodical movement of the target volume has multiple phases with a given phase sequence, and hence ensures an improved and robust method for determining a four dimensional-plan for carrying out an intensity modulated therapeutic irradiation of a target volume that is executed with less effort and lower cost.
