Diaphragm 48 of a gas pressure regulator carries a closure member 24 which restricts flow between inlet 20 and outlet 22 in accordance with the pressure beneath the diaphragm, and one or both of a pair of loading springs 46, 52 can be rendered inoperative selectively to make the regulator suitable for use with either town or natural gas and to render the whole regulator inoperative when it is fed with gas from a regulated supply. A spring loaded rod 60 carries a spade 62 which is selectively engageable with each of a pair of lips x, y on a member 54 so that either both springs are operative (as shown) or the end of rod 60 engages slidable seat 50 (as in Fig. 2, not shown) to render spring 52 inoperative. With the rod in this position member 54 can be screwed down into sleeve 34 to cause seat 50 to abut against diaphragm projection 74 (as in Fig. 3, not shown) so that the whole regulator becomes inoperative. With the parts in the position shown in Fig. 1 adjustment of loading springs 46, 52 is effected by a screw 44 the head 42 of which engages lip 38 on sleeve 34. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) this lip is also engaged by a thermally actuated lever.</p> |
