An over-torque resistant vial and closure assembly (14) includes a vial (10) having an outwardly projecting rib (46) that cooperates with a stop surface (38) provided on a closure (12). When the closure (12) is threadably coupled to the vial (10), the stop surface (38) of the closure (12) engages the outwardly projecting rib (46) of the vial (10) so as to prevent over-torquing of the closure (12) onto the vial (10).
