<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input character string error detection device that detects an error of an input character string and does not perform unnecessary error detection on an input character string with no errors fewer errors. <P>SOLUTION: A correct notation determination part 2 determines whether an input KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary) character string includes a specific character. A confirmation candidate extraction part 3 extracts the specific character from the KATAKANA character string only when the correct notation determination part 2 determines that the specific character is not included therein.
