The purpose is to provide a vacuum container and a method for producing the same, whereby the opening diameter can be made larger, while minimizing any increase in the thickness of the parts. In this vacuum container (100), a translucent window (10) of dome shape formed from glass is supported by a support frame (20), whereby the pressure resistance of the translucent window (10) per se is higher, and the support strength of the translucent window (10) can be increased by a flange portion (22) furnished to the support frame (20). The opening diameter can be made larger thereby, while minimizing any increase in thickness or the like of the translucent window (10) and a side wall (21).
