<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon film-coated end mill coated with a carbon film, such as a diamond film having an edge sharper than that of a conventional film, and a manufacturing method by which the end mill is manufactured through highly precise machining. <P>SOLUTION: According to the carbon film-coated end mill 1, a concave 3a is formed on a carbon film 3 in an area on a base rake face 2c and is also formed on the carbon film 3 in an area on a base flank 2d. The concaves 3a cross each other on a base cutting edge 2b to form a carbon film cutting edge 3b.
