<p>PURPOSE: A refractive index distributing type liquid crystal device and an image display device are provided to reduce the number of types of voltages necessary for controlling reduction of the number of electrodes, thereby simplifying an operation. CONSTITUTION: The central axis of a second electrode(22) is closer to a third electrode(23) than the central axis of a first electrode(21) in an electrode pair(200A). The center of the second electrode is closer to the third electrode than the center of the first electrode in an electrode pair(200B). Therefore, a Fresnel lens array is made by a small number of electrodes. And a liquid crystal GRIN(GRadient INdex) lens array is inexpensively manufactured.</p> |
